I've always loved drawing, and I've always loved miniatures. Most all of the drawings you see here are on dominoes (a few are on other smaller game tiles).
A couple of years ago I wanted to learn to do scrimshaw so I searched diligently for a material to use that wouldn't require using animal products (which is what the nineteenth century whalers traditionally used), and I discovered that the white and ivory colored plastic dominoes worked incredibly well, both for scrimshaw, and with a light sanding, for pencil as well. A chemical engineer I visited with, said that the kind of plastic used in those kinds of dominoes should be around for five hundred to a thousand years, or more. As an artist I like the thought of that.
So, here's my guarantee: My scrimshaw dominoes are guaranteed for 500 years. If you buy one, and after a couple hundred years you feel it's not living up to your expectations, please feel free to return it for a full refund.
Thank you,
Tom Voorhis
